Randall Feldman
Randall Feldman joined WYES, Public Television and Digital Media for New Orleans and the Gulf South as President and General Manager in 1990.
At WYES, Randall has expanded the station's entrepreneurial efforts by building two major high definition mobile units whose for-profit subsidiary is now larger than the non-profit station that owns it. He also secured eligibility for the station for state film and television tax credits both for its national productions and for its studio rebuilding project.
Randall began his association with public television in 1977 at Thirteen/WNET and has worked at WHA in Madison, Wisconsin; WNIN in Evansville, Indiana; KMBH in Harlingen, Texas; and the station-based long-range planning project, the Interregional Council on Public Television Policy. Prior to that, he was a classroom teacher, and also worked in arts administration, education, and anti-poverty efforts.
Randall has an M.S. in education, and draws upon his classroom teaching experience to advocate for the educational uses of public media. At WNET, he secured national underwriting and learned first-hand the issues facing producing stations. At WHA and WNIN, he worked at joint licensees and helped to address the challenges of creating services and raising funds for both radio and television. At KMBH, he worked at the station with the largest Hispanic population in the country, confronting issues related to minority and non-English speaking communities. He also helped to found the Small Station Association, and eventually became its second CEO.
