KAREN SPITZFADEN

Karen Spitzfaden joined APTS as a Research Assistant in June 2010. Karen works with the APTS Grant Center to identify and research potential federal grant opportunities for local public broadcasting stations. Additionally, she assists stations as they use the Grant Center to find funding for their work.  

Before joining the APTS team, Karen gained experience in applying for federal grants as a Research Assistant at Democracia USA, a Hispanic civic engagement organization. While working at Scott+Yandura, a DC-based political consulting firm, Karen also became familiar with the private grantmaking world.  

Karen is originally from Illinois and earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and the Study of Women, Gender and Sexuality from Rice University in 2008.
