General Manager
KUHT/Houston PBS

John Hesse has been General Manager of KUHT/HoustonPBS since 2002, having begun his service as Station Manager in 1997. John was responsible for programming, production, communications, development and community education and outreach. He was also charged with managing the local, regional, national and international production efforts for PBS and LARK International.

Previously, John was general manager of WLJT-TV in Martin, Tennessee. John began his public broadcasting career as a producer/writer/director for KUAT-TV in Tucson. In 1974, he became producer/writer/director for KUED in Salt Lake City. Prior to this, John also handled numerous projects for Osmond Entertainment, and subsequently formed his own production company. He returned to public broadcasting and worked in major donor fundraising, as well as corporate and capital campaign initiatives for KCET, Los Angeles.

John received his B.F.A. in Speech/Arts/Broadcasting from the University of Arizona. John serves the APTS Board as the APTS Professional Vice Chair.
