Chet Tomczyk, President & CEO of WTVP-47, Peoria, Illinois has been active in public and educational broadcasting since 1965. Since 1994, Chet has been with WTVP, first as Director of Development, and in 1996 was named President & CEO. Under his leadership, WTVP became the first digital public television station in Illinois to construct a new production and broadcast facility.
Prior to WTVP, Chet ran a successful media consulting business in Princeton, NJ. Previously, Chet served as the Director of the PBS Elementary/Secondary Service where he developed new technology-based business programs and services for schools and educational agencies across the country.
Prior to PBS, Chet was the Development Director for WXXI-AM/FM/TV in Rochester, NY. Previously, Chet was active in the international broadcasting scene while at the Agency for Instructional Technology, where he served as the Director of International Marketing.
Chet has served as the Chairman of Public Television's Small Station Association, President of the Illinois Public Broadcasting Council and the Treasurer of the Public Broadcasting Cooperative of Illinois. Chet is active in many local civic and social organizations.
Chet received his B.A. in Radio/Television from Michigan State University. He has completed graduate courses in broadcast management and business professional development and course work in management workforce diversity.
