Awards at Capitol Hill Day 2009
Each year during Capitol Hill Day, APTS presents several awards to local stations and outstanding individual advocates for public television and public broadcasting. Through these awards, APTS seeks to recognize excellence in innovative services and programming, and service beyond the call in legislative and community advocacy.
All APTS members and associate members are eligible to nominate deserving individuals and stations for the following awards. We encourage APTS members to share their current projects and initiatives with us through the nomination process. A station may nominate itself for the EDGE Award - you are best equipped relay how your efforts are impacting local communities!
The EDGE Awards
APTS annually recognizes public television stations and individuals within public television for their commitment to innovation in fulfilling public television's mission.
The 2009 EDGE Award seeks to highlight two areas:
- Groundbreaking partnerships in homeland security
- Educational technologies
Award winners are truly on the cutting "edge" of public television innovation and service. Nominate someone who has forged the way in digital television services.
The David J. Brugger Award
The David J. Brugger Award, named for the former president and chief executive officer of APTS, was established in October 2000 by the APTS Board of Trustees. The Brugger Award recognizes an individual or individuals who have shown exemplary leadership in grassroots advocacy on behalf of public television. Consideration for the award is open to any individual or group of individuals within the public television system, including station professionals, volunteers and lay leaders. APTS invites you to nominate a deserving individual or group for the 2009 David J. Brugger Award.
