Description: The mission of the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation is to improve the quality of life in Greater Kansas City by increasing charitable giving, connecting donors to community needs they care about and leading on critical community issues. Promoting racial diversity and inclusion is a priority throughout its giving. The Foundation houses more than 3,000 charitable funds established by individuals, families and businesses. It also has several affiliate funds that work to increase giving and address critical issues facing specific communities. 97 percent of grants given each year are through donor-advised funds.
The Foundation administers a number of funds that offer competitive grant opportunities. These funds have their own deadlines and application procedures. They support projects addressing topics ranging from the well-being of women and girls to business education.
In addition, the Foundation houses a number of funds that offer competitive grant opportunities, but does not administer them. These funds also have their own deadlines and application procedures. They address issues ranging from support for music performances to public education about energy efficiency.
