Collaborative Operations and Services Grant Program

Grant: Collaborative Operations and Services Grant Program
Agency: Corporation for Public Broadcasting
Deadline: February 28, 2013; April 30, 2013; and June 30, 2013

Description: The Collaborative Operations and Services Grant Program (COS) offered by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) supports projects that use mergers, consolidations, functional integration, centralization or collaboration to deliver any one of the following outcomes for public media stations:

  • The preservation of service by stations that deliver sole or unduplicated services to a specific audience or region.
  • Significant increases in station efficiency in functional and administrative areas (human resources, finance, development, engineering, program scheduling, traffic and content production), accompanied by increased performance levels and improved prospects for higher net revenues.
  • Significant improvements in station performance in local content creation and service delivery.

The COS program is solely intended to support carrying out the execution of specific scenarios and plans identified in the program notice. The program is not intended to fund initial discussions, research or analyses. These activities should be conducted in advance of an application.

Fit for Public Broadcasting: The COS grant program specifically supports public television and radio stations.

Eligibility: Any Community Service Grant (CSG) funded public television or radio station is eligible to apply. Additionally, existing non-profit organizations that deliver services to, or represent CSG recipients are eligible to apply.

Anticipated Funding: CPB expects to make one to two grants of up to $750,000; two to three grants of up to $500,000; and five to seven grants of up to $200,000. The project period may last up to three years.

How to Apply: Applications will be accepted in three rounds, with deadlines at the end of February, April and June 2013. Any questions about the program guidelines and grant requirements should be submitted by email.
