Digital Distribution Fund (DDF) Round 17: Centralcast Projects

Stations should consider that this may be the last opportunity to receive Digital Distribution Fund (DDF) funding for centralcast projects.

Grant: Digital Distribution Fund (DDF) Round 17: Centralcast Projects
Agency: Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB)
Deadline: August 31, 2011

Description: CPB is accepting applications for Round 17 DDF grants from CSG-qualified, noncommercial educational television licensees. CPB will only accept applications for new centralcast projects that control five or more CSG-qualified transmitters. Applicants must demonstrate that the requested funding will support only digital master control equipment.

Applicants must provide a description of the technical solution being proposed to operate multiple DTV transmitters. They must also describe how the proposed organizational structure and digital centralcast facilities provide operational efficiencies and what equipment and services are necessary.

Stations should consider that this may be the last opportunity to receive Digital Distribution Fund (DDF) funding for central cast projects.

Fit for public broadcasting: This program is exclusively for public television stations. Stations can receive funding for centralcasting projects.

Eligibility: Eligible applicants are CSG-qualified, noncommercial educational television licensees only.

Anticipated funding: The number of CSG-qualified transmitters included in the project will determine the funding levels. CPB will provide funding of up to the CPB Match Percentage or up to the CPB Funding Cap, whichever is less. Applicants must provide matching funds (from non-federal sources) towards the remaining total project costs.

For five CSG-qualified transmitters, the CPB Match Percentage is 50 percent, the applicant minimum match requirement is 50 percent and the CPB Funding Cap is $2,500,000.
For six to eight CSG-qualified transmitters, the CPB Match Percentage is 75 percent, the applicant minimum match requirement is 25 percent and the CPB Funding Cap is $4,000,000.
For nine or more CSG-qualified transmitters, the CPB Match Percentage is 90 percent, the applicant minimum match requirement is 10 percent and the CPB Funding Cap is $7,000,000.

How to apply: Applicants must use the electronic application form and templates posted online to file their applications, and all applications must be submitted via email by 8:00 p.m. EDT on August 31, 2011. Prior authorization is required to access the application templates and resources. To receive information describing the process for obtaining access, please contact CPB.
