New Funding Opportunity: D.C. Public Schools Effective Teaching Video Project
In order to increase effective teaching and student achievement in District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS), the D.C. Public Education Fund is soliciting applications from video producers to create a video library for teachers. The goal of the video library is to allow teachers to see what effective teaching looks like. Since there are few opportunities for teachers to leave their own classes and physically observe the classrooms of highly effective teachers, video is a powerful way for them to see what effective teaching is.
Teachers will access the video library through the online DCPS Professional Development Platform. The online library will include clips in short and long form – less than four minutes and between five and 15 minutes. These clips will feature teachers teaching in DCPS classrooms.
The DC Public Schools Effective Teaching Video Project is seeking a video production partner who has the expertise, experience, creativity, flexibility and commitment to work in a timely and collaborative way in order to produce groundbreaking professional development. The video production partner will be required to produce 120 short-form clips and 100 long-form clips that are ready for online use and formatted to be put on DVDs. Additionally, the video production partner will provide unedited raw footage of all filming sessions to be used for later editing and for archival purposes.
To answer questions from potential applicants, the D.C. Public Education Fund is hosting two pre-proposal phone calls on November 12 at 3:00 p.m. EST and November 16 at 12:30 p.m. EST. To RSVP for either call, e-mail Kesson Anderson. Proposals are due November 29, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. EST. The winner will be selected on December 20, 2010, and the project will end on May 31, 2011.
Public television stations’ video production capacity makes them good candidates for this funding opportunity. Interested applicants should download the RFP.
