Description: The purpose of this program is to provide competitive grants to State Educational Agencies (SEAs) to build capacity and to prevent youth substance use and violence and support collaboration between SEAs and other State agencies that are involved in efforts to prevent these problems. Funded activities include:
- Technical assistance and training.
- Program support services.
- Data analysis.
- Coordination of activities.
- Information dissemination.
Fit for public broadcasting: Funds must be used to enhance capacity of state agencies to support local educational agencies (LEAs) in their efforts to create and sustain a safe and drug-free school climate environment. Public broadcasters should consider contacting their SEAs to find out how they can participate in this program.
Eligibility: SEAs are eligible to apply.
Anticipated funding: Approximately $8 million will be distributed across 45 awards ranging from $125,000-$250,000.
How to apply: Applications must be submitted electronically using e-Application, the Department's electronic grant application system. New users can learn how to register and apply with this system here.
