Grant Center to Present Sessions at PMDMC 2018 in Chicago
The 2018 Public Media Development and Marketing Conference (PMDMC) in Chicago is just around the corner. The Grant Center for Public Media is excited to once again present sessions at public media's largest conference dedicated to development:
- The Accidental Grantwriter 2.0 (Wednesday, July 11 at 2:00 p.m.) - Building on last year's popular "So Now You're the Grantwriter" session, this year we invite you to join our panel of experienced grantwriters to think together about bringing your skills to the next level. We'll talk about where to get training, what a grantwriting career path can look like, how you may find yourself negotiating tricky relationships within your station and maximizing your relationship skills in the world of grants. If grantwriting is one of the many responsibilities that you juggle, if you're new to the world of grants and need some tips and resources, or if you're looking to connect with your public media peers, join us for a discussion on writing grants of all sizes. Presenters: Karen Avery, Senior Director of Institutional Giving at PBS Foundation; Kay Coz, Associate Director of Institutional Giving at WNET; Gina James, Manager of Development and Operations at Public Radio Exchange. Meegan White, Project Director for the Grant Center for Public Media, will moderate.
- Extending Education Services Through Grants (Thursday, July 12 at 11:45 a.m.) - Join us to hear stories of how stations have found grant opportunities to be one more way to support their education services. We'll hear directly from Sandra Welch at the National Science Foundation about grant programs for public media, as well as two case studies of stations that grew and sustained their education services through federal and state grants. Bring your questions! Presenters: Rachel Morrison Parsons, Director of Education Services and Station Relations at PBS; Kristin Pederson, Director of STEM Project Development at Twin Cities Public Television; Gloria Skurski, Chief Education Officer at ThinkTV; Sandra Welch, Program Director at National Science Foundation; Meegan White, Project Director for the Grant Center for Public Media.
