WEIU TV, public broadcaster for Charleston, Illinois, was awarded a Ready To Learn grant to develop the brand new 123 & ABC: Math & Reading Are Fun For Me! project. The aim of 123 & ABC is to use transmedia to teach preschool children math and reading skills in preparation for school.
WSIU Public Broadcasting, a PBS/NPR licensee based at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, turns the spotlight on the unique people, places, events, and issues of its five-state service region in the weekly half-hour television series WSIU InFocus.

Iowa

Kansas

KPTS, public television for Wichita, Kansas, encourages students to write and illustrate original stories by organizing a Young Authors Contest called Be More with Words, for children in kindergarten through second grade and third through fifth grades.
KTWU, centered in Topeka, Kansas, has been broadcasting local public television since 1965, as the first public television station in the state. Since then, they have immensely expanded their outlets and their audience.

Kentucky

KET uses funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to create programs and services that help residents of Kentucky improve their lives every day.
KET election 2010 coverage includes candidate discussions, analysis and new online resource.
The Kentucky Authority for Educational Television (KET) is the leading provider of free over-the-air educational services to residents of Kentucky.

Louisiana

Lousiana Public Broadcasting (LPB) celebrates Louisiana: The State We’re In in its 35th year on the network, as it also still remains Louisiana’s only statewide magazine.

Massachusetts

WGBH's National Center for Accessible Media is one of the eight projects which will receive an Award for Advancement in Accessibility from FCC’s Chairman’s Julius Genachowski at the FCC headquarters ceremony on December 19, 2012.
Since WGBH’s first broadcast in 1951, they have been doing an exemplary job in delivering free over-the-air media to the citizens of Massachusetts.

Michigan

The Nine Network of Public Media, serving the St-Louis region, offers digital storytelling training to individuals and organizations to help them tell and share their stories of impact.
Ozarks Public Television, public television for Springfield, Missouri, has recently launched a new initiative called Small World ▪ Big Picture. It’s a multi-faceted, multi-platform initiative focusing on the diversity of community and encouraging viewers to look closely at global issues and their connection to the local community.

Montana

MontanaPBS and the Montana State Library are collaborating on a summer project that will bring Super Why morning camps for preschoolers and their caregivers.

Nebraska

Nevada

Vegas Virtual utilizes a variety of robust media delivery platforms, which provide critical online education and workforce development resources that respond to business needs or training gaps that exist in Nevada’s current economy.

New Mexico

For over 20 years, New Mexico PBS's weekly art series ¡COLORES! has explored the arts, music, history and culture of New Mexico and the southwest.
As an adjunct to Tragedy of Bataan, New Mexico PBS is creating a half-hour program with some of the survivors of the surrender of Bataan and Corregidor.

New York

WSKG, public television for Binghamton, New York, is using its convening and communicating muscle to end childhood obesity. Childhood obesity is a sobering national epidemic that unfortunately has not spared the Southern Tier. Health officials are expressing concern with the link between childhood obesity and its relationship to the development of health related diseases, such as diabetes. With generous support from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and The Conrad and Virginia Klee Foundation, WSKG launched a Working on Wellness initiative (WoW) to work with existing health organizations
Mountain Lake PBS produces Mountain Lake Journal EXTRA, a half-hour public affairs program with stories about local and national business issues in the New York, Vermont, Quebec and Ontario region's rich cultural offerings.
“Homework Hotline is an outstanding resource, and I encourage parents to tune in with their kids so they can go through this education journey together,” said Jason Muhammad, who uses the program to compliment his sixth-grade son Ayinde’s studies at home.

Teens can discover how to launch a successful micro business in the new Western Reserve Public Media production Micro Business for Teens: Starting a Micro Business. Carol Topp, a Cincinnati-based certified public accountant, hosts the 90-minute program, which is based on her “Micro Business for Teens” book series.
WOSU Public Media, based in Columbus, has been serving Ohio since April 1922. 2012 is a banner year for WOSU that goes well beyond any expectations for public media in 1922

Oklahoma

RSU Public TV launches a 30-minute game show for local high school students to make an educational impact.

Oregon

Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB) is the only media organization that ties together both the urban and rural parts of Oregon. OPB is the only radio service that provides full-time news and information to Oregon residents from the Pacific Coast to the Idaho border.

Pennsylvania

WHYY's Dorrance H. Hamilton Public Media Commons puts the power of media in the hands of anyone with a story to tell and helps Greater Philadelphians become discerning media consumers. Hamilton Commons offers training programs for students, educators and adults of all ages, providing hands-on instruction on how to produce documentaries, slideshows and more.
For over 36 years, PBS39, public television for eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey, has been producing Scholastic Scrimmage, the area’s most popular high school television show where students are quizzed about all academic disciplines.
In April of 2011, witf Public Media in Harrisburg, PA launched Facing Cancer Together, an interactive, multimedia effort to connect the stories and lives of people touched by cancer
Telling Amy's Story raises awareness about domestic violence through Penn State Public Broadcasting's public media and outreach initiative.
George L. Miles, Jr., who has served as President and CEO of WQED Multimedia in Pittsburgh since September 1994, will retire at the end of September. Deborah Acklin was unanimously selected by the WQED Board of Directors to take the helm as President and CEO effective September 23, 2010.

Puerto Rico

Sistema TV, public television for Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, is the only PBS affiliate in the market. In collaboration with the Ana G. Méndez University System, Sistema TV produces local educational programs about arts and culture, university sports, health and the environment. It also produces and airs over 10 hours of weekly public affairs programming.

Tennessee

Some children and their parents come to kindergarten without any idea of what is expected. WLJT, public broadcaster for Tennessee, is tackling that problem with a step-by-step kindergarten “how to” in the event called Countdown To Kindergarten.
WCTE, based in Cookeville Tennessee, is proud to present the television show, Jammin’ at Hippie Jack, a local series, in collaboration with the Council of Americana Roots Music.
The Dr. Bob Show discusses current medical topics every week for local community of east Tennessee.

Texas

HoustonPBS, public media for Southeast Texas, participates in the GED® Connection program.
KACV Public Television, of Amarillo, Texas, coordinated a program called Feeding Minds: Texas Takes on Hunger and Obesity.
KACV brings awareness on the dropout crisis for the local community in Amarillo, Texas.
HoustonPBS is the home of the HoustonPBS Spelling Bee, with over 1,000 local schools from 42 counties competing in the Bee.

Utah

Utah Education Network (UEN) are proud new members of US Ignite, tying the Utah community together with ultra-fast broadband networking.
KUED's new documentary On the Edge: Mental Health in Utah brings awareness to mental health issues facing the local community.

Vermont

Through a rich variety of local programs, national programs and online discussions, Vermont Public Television fosters understanding of various points of view, welcoming diverse voices and opinions.
Vermont was ranked the sixth hungriest state in the country in a federal government report last year. VPT will look at this pressing issue in their community.
Vermont Public Television was presented with a 2010 EDGE Award for their multi-faceted, multi-platform community engagement campaign that brought together national and local television broadcast components, in tandem with web-based and community forums to create open discussion about the challenges, solutions and impact of mental illness on Vermont communities.

Virgin Islands

KPTS, public television for Wichita, Kansas, encourages students to write and illustrate original stories by organizing a Young Authors Contest called Be More with Words, for children in kindergarten through second grade and third through fifth grades.
WTJX, based in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, has launched an Eat Right, Exercise for Life! Obesity Campaign to encourage all Virgin Islanders to incorporate healthy eating with daily exercise into their everyday routines.

Virginia

Baseball: The Tenth Inning, a two-part documentary series directed by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick, and produced by WETA, tells the tumultuous story of America's national pastime from the early 1990s to the present day
WHRO is dedicated to providing citizens of the Hampton Roads community with access to local programming.

Washington

KSPS, public television for the Inland Northwest and Canada, recently partners with several local and regional health organizations to provide daily message points to help address the issue of childhood obesity.
Since 1954, KCTS 9 has been dedicated to serving the community from its educational documentaries to its informative series on health and public affairs.
Full Focus is the weekly documentary series that tells the stories of Western Washington's diverse communities.
KSPS addresses various health topics through a live public affairs program, Health Matters, Television for Life.

Wyoming

WyomingPBS documents the creation of a digital archive of tribal artifacts for the people of the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming.
Wyoming PBS’ s End of Track documentary is the story of the Transcontinental Railroad's construction march across southern Wyoming and the growing pains of a state in its infancy.
For the past four years, Wyoming PBS has been honoring outstanding home childcare providers from around the state for their hard work and dedication to early childcare and learning.
