APT Provides Education and Public Safety Resources to the Citizens of Alabama

Since 1953, Alabama Public Television (APT) has been a statewide leader in providing a vast array of educational services and resources to the citizens of Alabama. For example, APTPLUS provides educational resources for students and teachers of all grade levels. These resources and learning objects consist of videos, photos, audio clips and printed materials that meet the education standards of the state of Alabama. This service is provided free of charge to all teachers in all school districts throughout the state, as well as private, parochial and home school teachers. E-Learning for Educators, which falls under the umbrella of APTSPLUS and was awarded a five-year $21 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education, was designed to train local teachers on how to facilitate and create on-line professional development courses.

APT also operates seven production studios and facilities strategically located throughout Alabama that provide news and public affairs productions that cover all aspects of state government. APT’s newest production facility is located on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. The studio facility has a set designed for the production of public affairs programs in order to produce interviews with Alabama’s Congressional Delegation members and other policy makers.
