KEET HELPS LOCAL STUDENTS WITH MATH AND SCIENCE WITH HOMEWORK HOTLINE

KEET Helps Local Students with Math and Science with HomeWork Hotline

KEET, public television for Eureka, California, helps local students with their math and science homework through the program HomeWork Hotline, a live, call-in program aired twice a week. Students and parents have the opportunity to have their questions answered by highly qualified teacher hosts. The show also features entertaining and educational video segments, as well as recipes for healthy after-school snacks.

Currently in its 7th year, HomeWork Hotline encourages and increases students understanding of math and science. KEET hires certified teachers from local schools to come to the station every Tuesday and Thursday for the live show. Teachers who participate in HomeWork Hotline are extremely dedicated. When a student doesn’t understand the answer given on the show, the teacher will typically come back to the station and call the student to follow up, walking them through the problem step by step until they understand.

Science experiments are also demonstrated, which are extremely popular with the students. These experiments are ones that are completed in the classroom as well as those deemed too dangerous for the classroom.
