APTS Welcomes Ben Fleschert as Research Assistant

WASHINGTON—December 9, 2009 – The Association of Public Television Stations (APTS) is pleased to welcome Ben Fleschert as a Research Assistant for the APTS Grant Center.

“APTS is proud to have Ben Fleschert join our team,” said APTS President and CEO Larry Sidman. “Ben’s research experience will be a tremendous asset to the APTS Grant Center, as we help public television stations explore critical funding sources in these tough economic times.”

As a Research Assistant for the APTS Grant Center, Ben will conduct research and writing associated with the acquisition of federal and foundation grants for public television stations. Additionally, he will locate potential sources of funding, identify prospective funders and partners for stations, and develop funding strategies.

Prior to joining APTS, Ben worked with the East-West Gateway Council of Governments in St. Louis. His projects included public engagement and planning for the potential decertification of the Southwestern Illinois levees, providing grant research for the Coalition for the Missouri Housing Trust Fund’s 2009 legislative agenda, and developing program curriculum for Russian public officials during their 2008 and 2009 St. Louis visits. Furthermore, Ben has experience analyzing large data sets using quantitative methods including linear regression models, survey methods, and techniques for categorical and limited dependent variables.

Ben is a native of St. Louis, Missouri. He earned his Master’s Degree in Public Policy Administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis with an emphasis in policy research and analysis in 2009 and his Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy Administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2006. While at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, Ben was selected by the Chancellor as the University representative for Vice President Joe Biden’s Middle Class Task Force Panel.

Sidman concluded: “Thanks to a generous grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, we are able to hire Ben, and expand the support we give to public broadcasting stations across the country.”
