WASHINGTON — February 1, 2010 — The Association of Public Television Stations (APTS) is pleased to welcome Emil Mara as the Vice President of Finance and Administration.  

"APTS is proud to have Emil Mara join our team," said APTS President and CEO Larry Sidman. "Emil's extensive financial and operational experience will be a tremendous asset to APTS. He brings with him an expansive knowledge of the non-profit and corporate sectors and exceptional accounting acumen."     

As the Vice President of Finance and Administration, Emil will manage the financial affairs of the association and oversee day-to-day management of the administrative functions. He will also ensure the continuing innovation of finance operations and procedures.  

Prior to joining APTS, Emil served as the Chief Financial Officer at the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards in Washington, DC, where he was responsible for oversight, development and implementation of accounting controls, financial reporting and analysis. Previously, Emil was the Senior Vice President of Operations and Finance for the Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association, where he directed the oversight of operational functions for the organization.      

Emil earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Georgetown University where he graduated Cum Laude. He is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in the State of Maryland. Emil is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Society of Association Executives.  

Sidman concluded: "Emil's ability to develop and implement effective financial policies and procedures will assist APTS in continuing to meet the highest standards of financial integrity."
