WASHINGTON – March 15, 2010 – The Association of Public Television Stations ("APTS") announced today that its President and CEO, Lawrence R. Sidman, has decided to resign effective April 1, 2010 to pursue other personal and professional objectives that are of great importance and urgency to him.
APTS has accepted Mr. Sidman's resignation with gratitude for his service to the organization during the past year. Mr. Sidman, who joined APTS in February 2009, led APTS to a number of significant accomplishments in the public broadcasting arena during his tenure as President and CEO, working to advance the mission of APTS. APTS is most grateful for these achievements and for his contributions during his tenure.
"I am grateful for having had the opportunity to serve our nation's outstanding local public television stations and having been able to help them in a time of almost unprecedented fiscal challenge," said Mr. Sidman. He continued, "I am fortunate that a number of uniquely important personal and professional opportunities now await me. The time for me to act upon them is now."
At APTS' request, Mr. Sidman has agreed to assist the organization during the upcoming transition period and to be available to offer consulting services to APTS going forward in furtherance of APTS' legislative and regulatory objectives.
