Station Conference Call with APTS President and CEO Patrick Butler on August 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. EDT
As the Association of Public Television Stations (APTS) begins our new fiscal year, we invited stations to join us for a discussion with Patrick Butler, APTS President & CEO, on August 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. EDT. As the association representing the interests of local public television stations, APTS wants to engage the station community in discussion of our common goals and objectives to ensure we are offering the most valuable services that we may provide you.
In our new fiscal year, APTS will make a number of innovations in our service model that complement the legislative and regulatory services that we have historically provided which will make the association a more full service partner in the success of local stations. APTS plans to increase its support in helping stations confront the legislative challenges they face at the state as well as federal levels, to maximize revenue-generating opportunities available to stations, and to expand our commitment to a dynamic educational partnership in K-12 classrooms.
This new APTS service model encompasses a revitalized, refocused annual meeting titled The Public Media Summit (Summit). Like its predecessor, Capitol Hill Day, the Summit will include a robust legislative advocacy component culminating in direct station advocacy on Capitol Hill. Taking advantage of the unique perspectives and expertise of our joint licensees, the Summit will address issues of national and local importance to public media stations offering video, audio and on-line digital services. Finally, the Summit will feature dynamic speakers and strategic sessions designed for station professionals and board leaders that focus on business and sustainability issues important to stations.
In this discussion with stations, Pat shared his thoughts on these expanded APTS initiatives and seeked input from the station community on the future direction of APTS.
