APTS Board Elects the Honorable Louis W. Sullivan, M.D. to the Board of Trustees for the Association of Public Television Stations

WASHINGTON, D.C. – January 7, 2011 – The Association of Public Television Stations (APTS) has elected Dr. Louis Wade Sullivan, former U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, to its board of trustees.

Dr. Sullivan is chairman and a founding member of the Atlanta Educational Telecommunications Collaborative (AETC), which manages Public Broadcasting Atlanta (PBA) and its three public broadcasting entities: WABE FM- 90.1, WPBA TV- 30 and APS Cable Channel 22.

“I am honored by my election to serve on the Association of Public Television Stations’ board,” Sullivan said. “I believe this is a defining moment in public television as we renew our commitment to education, public service, innovation and diversity. I look forward to helping APTS with its advocacy in Washington and its service to members across the country.”

“As a distinguished public servant, a brilliant physician and educator, and a leader in public television, Dr. Sullivan does us great honor by agreeing to serve on our board,” said APTS president and CEO Patrick Butler. “He commands respect in Washington and around the world, and we are most fortunate to have the benefit of his counsel.”
