APTS Statement on Election of Greg Walden to Chairman of House Committee on Energy and Commerce

WASHINGTON, D.C. - December 2, 2016 - Patrick Butler, president and chief executive officer of America's Public Television Stations (APTS), made the following statement today on the election of Congressman Greg Walden (R-OR) to be the next Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. 
"America's Public Television Stations congratulate Representative Greg Walden of Oregon on his election as chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.

"We were pleased to present Congressman Walden with our Champion of Public Broadcasting award in 2013, and we are grateful for his continuing support of our public service missions of education, public safety and civic leadership. 

"Chairman Walden has been a voice of reason on telecommunications issues for many years, and we are delighted that he will now hold the gavel for one of the most influential committees of the Congress. 

"In addition, Congressman Walden is universally regarded as one of the finest legislators in Washington, and the nation is fortunate to have someone of his intelligence, experience, temperament and wisdom in its leadership."
