APTS Statement on the Passing of Steve LaTourette

WASHINGTON - August 4, 2016 - Patrick Butler, president and chief executive officer of America's Public Television Stations (APTS), made the following statement today on the passing of Steve LaTourette:

"America's Public Television Stations have lost a great friend and champion with the passing of Steve LaTourette.

"As a Member of Congress on the House Appropriations Committee, Congressman LaTourette stood with us through some of our most challenging times.

"Later, as a consultant to APTS, Steve was instrumental in building the broad bipartisan support for public television that we currently enjoy as we pursue our public service missions of education, public safety and civic leadership.

"Most of all, Steve LaTourette was a patriot, a skillful public servant, a wit to rival Will Rogers, and a profoundly good man. We mourn his loss with his wonderful wife and colleague Jennifer and the LaTourette family."
