APTS Statement on the President's FY 2012 Budget
WASHINGTON — February 14, 2011 — Today, the President submitted his Fiscal Year 2012 budget to Congress, recommending $451 million for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) for the two-year advance appropriation for FY 2014, an increase of $6 million over FY 2013 funding.
“To be recommended for a funding increase in this time of budgetary challenge is a powerful testament to public broadcasting’s essential contribution to a well-educated, well-informed, cultured and civil society," said APTS President and CEO Patrick Butler.
Butler concluded, “The American people have consistently rated public broadcasting as among the best uses of tax dollars, and on behalf of our 170 million satisfied customers, we say ‘thank you’ to the Obama Administration for this most welcome vote of confidence in the mission of public broadcasting.”
