News
We're Back! APTS and DEI Announce CPB Grant to Expand The Grant Center, Public Broadcasting's Premier Source for Grant Seekers.
We are excited to begin the second phase of the project – through CPB’s support, we will be able to maintain the Grant Center as a free service to all stations, and expand the services currently available. Meegan White will direct the Center, working closely with Amie Miller at DEI, and we will be bringing new staff on board as well. Expanded services will include more federal funding forecasts and trending information, creating case studies to share with stations and funders, increased research resources to help you craft strong proposals and building a forum for station grantseekers.
Grant Center Presents at PBS Annual Meeting: Download slides and resources from the Grant Center presentation at the PBS Annual Meeting on May 19, 2011, in Orlando, Florida. Foundation Funding
Finding Funding for Dropout Prevention Work: On May 3, 2011, CPB, with participation from PBS, America’s Promise Alliance and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, launched American Graduate, a new initiative to combat the dropout crisis in this country. Local public radio and television stations, located in 20 community “hubs,” will serve as the center of activity for the new initiative. Stations will partner with schools and other organizations to raise awareness about the dropout crisis, and to work directly with students, parents, teachers, mentors, volunteers and leaders to lower the dropout rate in their communities. This initiative positions stations to approach funders interested in dropout prevention. Learn more about some of these funders here.
Telling Stories of Democracy in California: Public media is highly skilled at story-telling. Stations in California may apply for grants through the California Story Fund to tell the stories of democracy in that state. This program is funding multimedia initiatives and has a strong interest in reaching broad audiences. It’s a particularly good opportunity for community-based stations, youth media, and/or stations working with diverse populations.
