The Foundation matches employee contributions to public radio and television stations. Donations up to $2,500 are matched 1:1, with the first $500 matched 2:1

Description: Deluxe Corporation is a $1.5 billion company with locations in nearly 30 communities across the United States, Canada, Ireland and China. Grants are made in many states, with emphasis on Minnesota. Since its creation in 1952, the Deluxe Corporation Foundation has awarded more than $85 million to education, the arts and human services programs. The Foundation’s grant focus areas are:

  • Investing in Tomorrow through Education
    • Partnerships with business schools.
    • After-school academic enrichment programs.
    • Business education programs.
  • Transitional and Youth Services
    • Programs for at-risk youth, e.g., mentoring, Boys & Girls Clubs, counseling.
    • Programs that help at-risk high school students prepare for post-secondary education.
    • Self-sufficiency programs.
    • Small business coaching.
    • Crisis response and intervention.
  • Community Enrichment through the Arts
    • Professional performing arts groups (orchestras, theaters, choral groups, dance companies).
    • Museums.
    • School outreach programs.

Fit for Public Broadcasting: The Foundation makes grants in numerous communities nationwide. Given its strong support for public media in Minnesota, and its overall interest in the arts and in education, it would be worthwhile for stations in other locations to explore the possibility of support.

Eligibility: The Deluxe Corporation Foundation considers applications from organizations that:

  • Meet the Foundation's grant focus areas.
  • Have obtained tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) or 509(a)(1), (2) or (3).
  • Have operated as a nonprofit for at least two years.
  • Have secured support from other corporate funders.
  • Are located near Deluxe facilities.

The Foundation does not support individuals, event sponsorship, advertising, political organizations, lobbying efforts, fraternal organizations, religious programs, research, travel expenses, start-up organizations, athletic and recreational programs, long-term housing, civic organizations, health, or organizations primarily supported by government sources.

Deadlines:

For Minnesota applicants:

  • Arts Organizations - Proposals accepted from February 1 to April 1.
  • Youth Organizations - Proposals accepted from May 1 to June 30.
  • All Other Organizations - Proposals are accepted from April 1 to October 15.

For applicants outside of Minnesota: Proposals are accepted each year from February 1 to October 1.

Funding decisions are typically made within three months.

How to apply: First-time grantees in Minnesota should start with a letter of inquiry. Organizations that have received Deluxe Foundation funding in the past can submit a proposal.
