Description: The LEGO Group is committed to helping children develop their creativity and learning skills through constructive play. Focus areas are:
- Early childhood education and development that is directly related to creativity.
- Technology and communication projects that advance learning opportunities.

- Discovery Museum (Bridgeport, CT) for Science at the Center (2008).
- Technology Access Foundation (Seattle, WA) for the TechStart Robotics Pilot grant award (2008).
- Indian Valley Middle School (Ohio) for Gateway to Technology program (2008).
- Connecticut Science Center (Hartford, CT) in an annual large grant (2008).
Fit for public broadcasting: The Fund is interested in projects that engage young people with science and technology, as well as with art, which may provide some openings for a public media. Proposals would need to show how public media is advancing one or both of the Fund’s two primary goals.
Eligibility: The Fund supports organizations and groups who serve children age birth - 14, with special consideration for the following:
- Groups that support disadvantaged children.
- Groups that are supported by LEGO employee volunteers.
- Special projects or programs designed to elevate a child's opportunities for exploring creativity.
- Organizations serving Connecticut and Western Massachusetts.
The LEGO Children's Fund has a special interest in collaborative efforts and in providing matching funds to leverage new dollars into the receiving organization.
The Fund awards grants to qualified tax-exempt organizations (as determined under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue code) including educational organizations as defined in USC 26 § 170 (C).
The Fund considers grant applications from qualified organizations located anywhere within the United States, but may give special consideration to applications from the Connecticut and Western Massachusetts area.
Deadline: There are four application deadlines per year. For application deadline of:
- February 1, eligibility quiz will be made available online from December 1 – January 15. Grant awards will be made in March.
- May 1, eligibility quiz will be made available online from March 1 – April 15. Grant awards will be made in June.
- August 1, eligibility quiz will be made available online from June 1 – July 15. Grant awards will be made in September.
- November 1, eligibility quiz will be made available online from September 1 – October 15. Grant awards will be made in December.

Giving range: Primarily $500 - $5,000, although they have awarded grants greater than $5,000, as well. Current average grant award is $3,000.
