INSIGHT TO THE 2012 RURAL DIGITAL GRANT COMPETITION

Insight to the 2012 Rural Digital Grant Competition

Grant Center Conference Call
Wednesday, June 6, 2012
1:00 pm – 2:00 pm ET

On Wednesday, June 6, 2012, the Grant Center hosted Norberto Esteves, Engineer and Acting Director of Advanced Services of the Division of the Telecom Program, and Petra Schultze, Financial Analyst, Advanced Services Division of the Telecom Program and public television grants manager on a special call to discuss the 2012 Rural Digital competition. The speakers provided an overview of this year’s Rural Digital competition, and then took time to answer questions. We recommended that you have a copy of the 2012 application guide handy, either as a hard copy or digitally, as this was referenced during the call. The NOFA for the 2012 competition was released Friday, May 18, 2012, and we encourage you to visit the Grant Center Rural Digital Grant profile for more details, including a link to the archived call from 2011.

This program, officially titled the Public Television Station Digital Transition Grant Program from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, assists public television stations serving substantial rural populations in transitioning to digital broadcast television transmission. Grant funds may be used to acquire, lease and/or install facilities and software necessary to the digital transition. An estimated $3 million is expected to be granted this year with a maximum grant amount of $750,000. The deadline to apply is July 17, 2012.
