Description: This corporate foundation makes grants in the areas of company operation. It supports community-based programs that improve health and well-being. Its three priority program areas are:

  • Saving and Improving Lives: focusing on maternal and child health.
  • Building Health Care Capacity: focusing on building the skills of people who serve community health needs, primarily through education.
  • Preventing Diseases: focusing on working with communities to prevent chronic disease like HIV/AIDS and diabetes, and help people cope with the stigmas of disease and mental illness.

The company has a long legacy of support for disaster relief and recovery. It has put considerable resources into making product contributions following disasters. More recently, it has stated its commitment to investing in disaster preparedness and prevention.

Fit for public broadcasting: While the Foundation does not accept unsolicited applications, it may be a fit for public media organizations that have or can find a contact in its areas of operation. In particular, the Foundation may be a fit for media initiatives that focus on maternal/child health, training of community health providers, and/or education around prevention of chronic health conditions. The Foundation has stated its intention to expand its disaster relief work into preparedness and prevention, and may be a fit for public media outlets working in that area.

Eligibility: The Foundation makes grants in areas of company operation and also supports national organizations. No grants to individuals, or for debt reduction, capital campaigns or endowments, or publications; no loans.

How to apply: The Foundation does not accept unsolicited applications, so interested stations would need to find an introduction.

Giving range: Most grants range between $10,000 – $250,000.

Assets: $8,647,433 (market value).
