Description: The Foundation works for positive social change by making grants in the following areas:

  • Cultural and spiritual life of New Mexicans.

The Foundation has particular interest in supporting the arts/culture sector in Santa Fe as a core part of the city's economy; advancing economic development in New Mexico; building support for sustainable energy production.

  • $50,000 over two years to Journeys in Film to educate middle-school students about other cultures (2007).
  • $45,000 over three years to High Country News for articles about New Mexico (2006).
  • $25,000 over two years to New Mexico Community Foundation for the KUNM call-in public affairs show (2008).
  • $20,000 over two years to Good Radio Shows for the Peace Talks program which promotes peace and nonviolent conflict resolution (2008).
  • $20,000 over two years to La Jicarita News in general support (2008).
  • $10,000 to Northern New Mexico Radio Foundation (fiscal agent for Youth Media Project) for the Santa Fe Youth Radio Project (2008).
  • $10,000 to Digital Filmmaking Institute in general support (2008).
  • $1,500 to New Mexico Community Foundation for Red Rock Pictures production company to produce a documentary film about environmental issues (2008).

Fit for public broadcasting: The Foundation is a good fit for public media serving New Mexico. Applicants are most likely to be successful with projects that converge with the Foundation's specific interests.

Eligibility: Grants can be awarded to qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in the state of New Mexico, federally recognized Indian tribes, public schools and governmental agencies. Grants cannot be made to individuals.
