Description: The purpose of this program is to conduct public education programs about the rights afforded potential victims of employment discrimination and the responsibilities of employers under the anti-discrimination provision of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).
OSC is particularly interested in proposals that include educational efforts directed at employers and workers. Proposals should focus on geographic areas that include significant numbers of low wage immigrant workers, individuals at greater risk of being victimized by immigration related job discrimination and/or the industries in which they work. Industries of particular concern are agriculture, construction, manufacturing, health care, retail trade, hospitality and food services, information technology and construction.
Fit for public broadcasting: OSC is interested in applicants that can credibly and effectively reach large segments of the intended audience. Public broadcasters should consider a variety of strategies using foreign language media and adult education curricula to target worker and employer audiences.
Eligibility: Nonprofits, institutions of higher education, state governments and local governments are eligible to apply.
Anticipated funding: Approximately 15 grants will be awarded ranging from $35,000 to $100,000.
