Department of Education "What Works" Clearinghouse
August 2004
Baffled by “scientifically-based research?” The Department of Education continues to add material to its What Works Clearinghouse, providing the types of research that NCLB mandates. With two new sections about middle school math curricula effectiveness and peer-assisted learning, the clearinghouse is beginning to offer the depth of material that its 2002 launch promised.
In August, 2004, nearly 100 reports about middle school math achievement and peer-assisted learning will hit the web, with studies on adult literacy, drop-out prevention and behavior set to be released in the coming months.
Stations that have joined with institutions of higher learning or research to conduct studies on relevant topics can work with their partners to submit results as well.
