Approaching Chief State School Officers as Funding Partners

The APTS Grant Center's first conference call addressed cultivating the kinds of state-based partnerships that will be needed to access funds at the state level. In terms of education funding, Chief State School Officers play a crucial role in allocating funds in each state. CPB's own Susan Zelman joined us on the call and shared her experiences as a Chief State School Officer in Ohio. Race to the Top was discussed, and a guiding document created by APTS and PBS was introduced as a tool to help stations make a case for inclusion into their state's Race to the Top grant applications.
