DEI Collaboration
The APTS Grant Center is working with the Development Exchange Incorporated (DEI) on the foundation component of this project.
DEI is public radio's fundraising and marketing service organization. Serving over 270 member stations, DEI provides:
- Electronic and telephone advisory services in all areas of fundraising and marketing.
- Access to the monthly eREPORT and the DEI web site, which provides news, information, and materials to assist stations in their fundraising needs.
- The annual Public Media Development and Marketing Conference (PRDMC).
- Active leadership in issue-oriented discussions affecting public radio stations.
- DEI's contribution to the APTS Grant Center will be to provide profiles on national, local and regional foundations identified as likely funders for public broadcasting stations.
In addition to foundation profiles, DEI provides stations, on request, with customized searches of potential media funders in a specified geographic region and/or funders in specific topic areas. DEI will provide stations with basic information about each funder, drawn from the Foundation Center database, including contact info, giving areas, deadlines, and sample grants.
To request service, stations should contact Amie Miller, amie@deiworksite.org.
Amie Klempnauer Miller, DEI Foundation Development Advisor, has 20 years of experience in fundraising. She consults and writes national, regional and local grants for public media organizations, stations and independent producers nationwide. Prior to becoming a consultant, she served as Senior Development Officer at Public Radio International where she wrote grants raising more than $12 million for national productions, start-up initiatives, and new media. As a DEI Advisor, she works with stations and independent producers on creating and implementing a foundation development plan, researching foundations, writing and editing proposals, and developing foundation cultivation and solicitation strategies.
