FEDERAL FUNDING PROSPECTS AND THE PRESIDENT'S BUDGET
Federal Funding Prospects and the President's Budget
Federal Funding Prospects and the President’s Budget APTS Grant Center Webinar Wednesday, February 23, 2011 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. EST
Federal funding for this current year, Fiscal Year 2011, has been fraught with controversy and political intrigue. A complete appropriation for this year has yet to be finalized; a Continuing Resolution is keeping the federal government running by extending program funding at 2010 levels through March 4, 2011. At the same time, the budget for Fiscal Year 2012 is already in the on-deck circle. President Obama released his proposed FY 2012 budget in February, marking the first step of a long process toward completing next year’s budget.
President Obama’s budget proposal for 2012 provides a sense of the Administration’s funding and policy priorities for the coming year. On this webinar, we gained insight into the possible future of key programs, including critical public media appropriations like Ready to Learn and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting general appropriation, as well as other grant programs that have been of interest to stations.
This APTS Grant Center webinar discussed the President’s proposal, assessed the successes and challenges it presents and provided updates on the outlook for this year’s appropriations.
