CPTV Nominated for Six Emmy Awards (May 2006)
 

Connecticut Public BroadcastingCPTV Nominated for Six Emmy Awards

Connecticut Public Television recently received six regional Emmy nominations from the Boston/New England Chapter of the National Television Academy.

In the category for Educational or School Program, Jennifer Boyd, producer/director/writer; Jim Chapdelaine, composer; Jay Whitsett, executive producer and vice president of programming; and Kevin Jeffko, editor, were nominated for the CPTV original documentary Teens Behind the Wheel. Teens Behind the Wheel, which premiered in May 2005, featured footage from cameras mounted in the cars of ten Greater Hartford teens who had just earned their drivers’ licenses.

In the Health or Science Program category, Jay Whitsett, executive producer and vice president of programming, and Jennifer Boyd, producer/director, were nominated for the series Women’s Health Update. This five-part series offered viewers the latest diagnosis and treatment facts about various illnesses and conditions as well as the progress of ongoing research.

In the category for Topical Documentary, Jay Whitsett, executive producer and vice president of programming; Frank Borres, producer; and Kevin Jeffko, editor, were nominated for the CPTV original documentary The Challenge, a story focusing on how Connecticut citizens are living with intellectual disabilities and their integration into mainstream society. Borres was also nominated for an Emmy in the Writer-Program category for The Challenge.

In the category for Program-Single Spot, Paul Pfeffer, writer/producer, and Dave DiGiovanni, editor, were nominated for Spy. In the Documentary-Topical category, Roger Springfield, producer, was nominated for an Emmy for Top Dogs: The Run to Number One.

“…the fact that CPTV was nominated for six Emmy Awards is an incredible statement and endorsement of our talented local programming unit,” said Jerry Franklin, president and chief executive officer of Connecticut Public Broadcasting, Inc.
