Beginning Labor Day, subscribers of Foothills Broadband’s digital cable will receive KET’s four primary digital channels. KET1 will be available on channel 140, KET2 on channel 142, KET3 on channel 144 and KET4 on channel 146. Analog subscribers will still find KET1 on channel 4. Together, KET1 and KET2 bring Kentucky families 12 solid hours of safe, educational and non-commercial children’s programs every weekday. KET2 is now the primary home of PBS’ primetime schedule, which includes signature series such as Antiques Roadshow, Nova and Frontline. Additionally, KET2 offers a wealth of programs not found on KET1, including the series Globe Trekker and Simple Living, as well as works by independent filmmakers and documentaries voicing America’s diversity.
While KET3 is an in-school service, providing instructional series for use in Kentucky P-12 classrooms, it also serves as a powerful resource for those who home-school. KET4 is a dual purpose channel, providing PBS’ HD and widescreen offerings every night during primetime and the Annenberg Channel lineup of renowned educational series and professional development for educators the rest of the time.
“Foothills Broadband is very pleased to offer all of these services from KET,” said Thomas E. Preston, CEO/GM of Foothills Telephone Cooperative. “KET’s programming speaks to our commitment to quality and diverse programming, and we’re excited that this digital technology allows us to provide even more of KET’s great services.”
“We congratulate Foothills Broadband on the decision to give their subscribers access to the wealth of programs on KET’s four primary digital services,” said Malcolm Wall, executive director of KET. “By utilizing the broad digital spectrum in this way, Foothills is further enriching lives in the communities it serves.”
