WGVU Productions Receives Three Millennium Awards WGVU Productions received three Millennium Awards for outstanding programming in July. The Millennium Awards recognize exemplary work across the nation in video, film, TV, print, web-design, audio and advertising and are judged by industry professionals.
A documentary about the International Auto Show in Detroit High Gear 2007 received a Gold Award. Fall in Love with Michigan, a program capturing the seasonal changes of fall with an emphasis on natural variations of color, received a Silver Award. Christmas carols and anthems in Hope College Christmas Vespers also received a Silver Award for coverage of 200 students participating in various ensembles.
“We are always happy to have the hard work behind our productions honored, and we hope to maintain these standards of quality in future productions,” said WGVU Marketing Coordinator Emily Maurin.
The twice a year Millennium Awards usually receive 1,200 to 2,400 applicants nationwide, with 10 percent receiving a Bronze Award, 7 percent receiving a Silver Award, and 5 percent receiving a Gold award, according to Millennium Awards coordinator Brice Jamison. “We try to keep this system very competitive,” he said. The competition started in 2004, and applicants have been steadily increasing ever since.
